Biosketch

Nino Baby is a faculty in the Department of Economics with a teaching experience of eleven years. She has been engaging classes at both graduate and post graduate levels. At the graduate level she teaches Quantitative Methods for Economic Analysis and Methodology of Social Sciences and at the post graduate level she teaches Development Economics, Indian Economy, Resource Economics and Research Methodology. Her area of specialization is Development Economics with special focus on micro level studies. Her other keenĀ area of interests are Labour economics with special focus on women, Poverty issues and Urban development.

She is also the recipient of the Short term Research Fellowship of Directorate of Minority Welfare, Government of Kerala in 2013. She has also received a Minor Research grant from UGC for her work on the use of energy saving bulbs in the rural domestic household sector of Kerala. She was also the co-investigator in the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UBCHEA)’s three year institutional project titled Understanding Alternative Lives: Equipping Students for a Peaceful Co-existence.

She has been an Internal Mentor of the Walk With the Scholar (WWS) programme of U.C College unit, an initiative of the Kerala Higher Education Council. She has been the Staff Advisor to the Debate Club and the Economics Association and has served as NCC caretaker during her term as temporary faculty from 2006 to 2009. She has also served as the Joint Director of the Centre for the Study of Religion and Society (CSRS), an independent research body in the institution.
